Steve and Margie received the following historical letter dated March 20, 1988 from Jeanette Hargett Downs. Jeanette is the daughter of John Pressley Hargett, born February 18, 1892 and wife Annie Mae Yandle who was born October 15, 1892. John Pressley is Maggie Hargette Hayes' brother. It is interesting to note the past ownership of the land where Grayson and Eleanor Hayes raised their family. It is also interesting to note that Lillian Carter―the mother of President Jimmy Carter―came from a divergent branch of the family. Here is the letter:
