Stacey Brevard Hayes, son of Fred and Maggie Hayes, was born February 25, 1910. On January 7, 1934, Stacey married Ethel Mae Yandle, born November 11, 1916 to Amos Blair Yandle and Mary Vernice Helms.

The 1940 census found Stacey and Ethel in Rock Hill, South Carolina, with Frederick 5, and 4-year-old Melvin Hayes. At the time, Stacey was a printer at a "cloth printing plant." They owned their home, then valued at $2400.

Stacey died September 27, 1979 and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Charlotte. Ethel died on February 9, 1996, in Sanford, Lee County, and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
